Another educational and enjoyable meeting for local beekeepers. The Q&A session helped answer almost a dozen questions from new beekeepers. John Favaron covered important aspects of package installation.
With a new year comes new officers. Our 2019 club officers, voted in at the December meeting are as follows:
President – Paul Dorger
Vice President – Geoff Hultgren
Treasurer – Keith Mealy
Secretary – Alice Craig
Let’s all welcome them and thank them for stepping up for the club.
Thank you!: what a wonderful gathering! Welcome to all the new beekeepers and a “Nice to see you!” to the experienced beekeepers.
Presentation: About a dozen different beekeepers presented short, focused Best practices presentation. It was a refreshing presentation.
Volunteer Opportunities: Refreshment sign-ups w Anne Richardson. Sign up and share the responsibility one month with another beekeeper. Mentoring/being Mentored: We are in process of completing a mentor/mentee application. We will post it as soon as we have it done. We always need more Mentors so even if you have only been keeping bees for a year, volunteer to help a neighbor do their first hive inspections or plan their monitoring calendar or help them spot the queen. It’s a nice way to meet folks who share your interest in beekeeping.
** CLASSES SOLD OUT but you can go visit vendors** Once again this year, on March 23rd, Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences presents the Southwestern Ohio Beekeepers School.
